dixie

I saw the sun set from the sky.
I got down so I got high.
Watched the moon come up and start to glow.
I start thinking bout way back when.
Drifting through my mind again
I shed a tear for the friends I used to know.
Can I go home once again to that southern promised land
can I go home where the dixie wind blows.
Can I go home sit in the sun and watch that old brown river run
I wanna go home God knows.
I wanna go home God knows.
I miss the dust the wind and cotton.
Been gone so long am I forgotten.
Been so long since i've seen my home land.
So many places so many new faces.
Aint no way it at all replaces
where i'll make my final stand.
Can I home once again to that southern promised land.
Can I go home where the dixie wind blows.
Can I go home sit in the sun and watch that old brown river run
I wanna go home God knows.
Can I go home sit in the sun and watch that old Brazos river run.
I wanna go home God knows.
I wanna go home God knows.
